Angel Hurd has been selected as the 2023-2024 Mayo Demonstration School Support Professional of the Year!
Angel started working for Tulsa Public Schools in 1981 when she was still a student at McLain High School. She spent her summers working in the district's athletic department working for Ed Lacy. She rejoined Team Tulsa in 2021 working in the aftercare program before deciding to become a teacher assistant. At Mayo, she also serves as the cafeteria manager for breakfast and helps teach life skills as a family teacher.
"Education is the one that cannot be taken away from you. Each child deserves to learn on any level and I want to be a part of teaching this," said Angel.
Angel's daughters were also recognized at their school sites this year! Landon McQuarters was named Support Professional of the Year at Anderson Elementary, and Ashton Blake was named Teacher of the Year at Central Middle School.
Angel is still showing up for Mayo students while going through cancer treatment (the photo above shows her before and after chemo). Her dedication to her school shows why she is deserving of Support Professional of the Year!
